Dr. Mencken’s lab is seen for the first time.

Menckin’s purpose in being on the island and how long he was there is never really explained. Rather, it is part of a more elaborate plotline that was trimmed down during the course of the series. |
Another indication that Jacques' possession is getting stronger is the fact that Jean Paul suffers severe headaches after his possessions, as well as even after his conversations with Jacques |
Amphetamines, barbiturates, herbs and morphine are only some of the drugs kept in the lab cabinets. |
As Jean Paul puts his jacket on, the collar remains up for a lengthy bit of time before Colin Fox realizes and straightens it out |
When Jean Paul says he’s going upstairs to bed and he is not to be disturbed, Raxl replies “Oui Monsieur” for some reason, rather than replying in English. |

| EPISODE 22 |
When Jean Paul is possessed by Jacques, he appears again in period costume, something not seen since Episode 2. This is the last time this happens in the series, and is different than the normal routine of having the ring on Jean Paul’s finger indicate his possession. It is most likely that period costume was used to eliminate a recording break between the time Jacques appears to Alison in the mirror and the next time he shows up in the episode. |
Jean Paul turns on the recorder in the secret room but doesn’t press record before he starts talking. |
Jean Paul also rewinds the tape in the secret room for some reason before he is to record a message to Erica. There is no good reason for this, as it would ostensibly erase a portion of any previous message he recorded for Erica, but in plot terms, it allows him to hear Jacques’ recorded message |
For this episode, Director Vladimir Handera’s credit zooms into the camera |
There are full credits on this episode including credits for Raxl, Quito, the Reverend, Vangie and Dan who do not appear |

| EPISODE 23 |
The crypt in the basement of the chateau is established as the Desmond family crypt, yet only three coffins (aside from Jacques') are seen, none more recent than the 19th century. As Jean Paul has only been on Maljardin for six months, it could be assumed that the chateau had been unoccupied before his arrival, but it is never specifically mentioned. |
Menkin’s experiments included a "simulated aneurism of delusory paracytosis" in lower apes. |
Raxl claims the temple of the serpent has been there for 3,000 years. Only the priests used the altar of sacrifice and only for fertility rites or to grow maize. |
| |
Raxl mentions Quexacoatl, and Aztec god, as one of their gods. |
When Jean Paul is turning on the monitor to see Erica’s capsule, he presses a button then watches the screen, which does not turn on, so he presses the button again. |
Despite telling the Reverend that the worshippers of the serpent consider Christians heretics, Raxl asks him for help in ridding Maljardin of the evil of Jacques. |
It is mentioned that the entrance to the temple of the serpent is hidden, implying no one but Raxl and Quito know where it is, yet the entrance can clearly be seen, just to the left of the cryonics tanks in the crypt. Additionally, the entire crypt can be seen on the security monitors, so there is little reason why Jean Paul would not know of its existence. |

In episode 18, Jean Paul and Dan talk at the French Leave Cafe. Jean Paul, who had recently fired Dan, apologizes for his behavior and invites Dan to Maljardin. He doesn’t specifically say he rehired Dan. In Episode 21, Dan reminds Jean Paul he was fired but Jean Paul says he was rehired (despite not saying it) and Dan expresses no surprise at this. Instead, he says he needs to get to work as if it’s the first time he heard about being rehired. In this episode, Jean Paul asks to rehire Dan and Dan insists that he already was rehired BEFORE he came to Maljardin—not true. |

| EPISODE 24 |
Raxl drops two tarot cards, one representing Jean Paul and the other a female. The Reverend confronts Raxl, who will not tell, but it is implied that it is Elizabeth, which is part of an originally scripted plotline where Elizabeth was the reincarnation of Tarasca, a 300 year old witch and contemporary of Jacques Eloi DesMondes. |

EPISODE 25
“To sleep, perchance to dream” is Holly’s father’s favorite line |
This episode implies Elizabeth is a danger stronger than both Dan Forrest and Reverend as protectors, yet she is eventually revealed as harmless, and this plot thread goes nowhere. This is another remnant of the Elizabeth as Tarasca storyline, which was scripted but dropped before the episodes made it to the screen. |
Conveniently, there is a bottle of ginger ale next to the brandy decanter so Holly can ask for one when Quito offers her a drink, despite the fact that neither Jean Paul nor Quito knew Holly would not be able to sleep and thus would come downstairs at midnight. |
The establishing shots show daylight, yet Holly is sleeping and it is mentioned that the time is midnight. |
In the temple, as Cosette Lee is kneeling, she slips and falls. |
The nightgown worn by Mrs. Marshall in this episode is one of the few items Mrs. Marshall wore that did not come from actress Paisley Maxwell’s personal wardrobe. |
