EPISODE 28

In the main hall, Jean Paul stands in front of Jacques’ portrait.  Jacques tells him that he needs to put on a good face for his guests but warns him that sooner or later, he will win. Not wanting Tim and Holly to see him in distress, Jean Paul excuses himself and Tim and Holly continue to work on Erica’s portrait.

In the lab, Alison finds Dan looking at books.  He asks her if she’s seen a volume detailing a possible artificial liver.  Dan questions the ability of science to bring Erica back but Alison says she can’t entirely dismiss it.  Dan says he believes in love, implying he has feelings for Alison.  She dismisses the subject, instead turning the conversation to Jean Paul.  Dan tells Alison he worries that Jean Paul is on the brink of insanity, but Alison says Dan just can’t understand Jean Paul’s love for his wife.  Dan asks if Erica can be brought back to life.  Alison says she thinks cryonics can bring her back to life eventually.

Having been possessed by Jacques while upstairs, Jean Paul descends the stairs and inquires about Tim’s portrait.  Holly insists he was not in his room when she went there but Tim dismisses it.  Holly still wonders.  Jean Paul/Jacques shows Elizabeth the portraits in the mansion.  Holly is upset at how friendly her mother is with Jean Paul.  Tim tries to dissuade her from bothering them.  Jean Paul explains to Elizabeth that Jacques’ wife was Huaco and Elizabeth comments on the similarities between the portrait of Jacques and Jean Paul.  She confesses to Jean Paul that she is interested in him.

Jean Paul and Elizabeth come to inspect the portrait of Erica.  Tim stops them, telling them that he’s having trouble bringing Erica’s portrait to life. At that moment, Jacques leaves Jean Paul and he tells Tim he no longer wants to see it, asking him to remove it.  Elizabeth notices the change and asks Jean Paul to be himself to which he says he won’t be until Erica is returned.  Elizabeth blames Tim for the mood shift.  She wants to see the portrait and asks Tim if he is ashamed of it. He tells her that he is.

Holly yells at her mother for saying things to Tim and tells her to stop ruining peoples’ lives, especially Jean Paul’s.  Elizabeth mentions to Jean Paul that he will need a woman some day and mentions again that she is interested in him. Tim consoles Holly and tells her he’s interested in her.  She is not thrilled with that, which upsets Tim.

In the lab, Dan wonders if Jean Paul knows about the cyanide and Alison worries he might use it.  Elizabeth enters as Dan leaves.  Elizabeth is amazed that Jean Paul has a full lab.  She mentions to Alison that Jean Paul is cold sometimes but Alison says he’s just moody, telling Elizabeth that if she wants to know about Jean Paul she should ask him.

Upstairs, Jean Paul is on the bed in his room as Dan knocks.  Dan asks to speak with him but he refuses to answer.  Instead, he enters the secret room and records a message to Erica about his moods and his commitment to bringing her back.  Holly and Elizabeth knock on Jean Paul’s door.  Elizabeth tells Holly to leave Jean Paul alone as she has plans to make him hers.  Jean Paul overhears and tells Erica he is hers alone but Jacques interrupts, telling Jean Paul that he actually belongs to him.
