Upstairs in her room, Alison is looking in the mirror. She sees an image of Jean Paul staring at her asking for help. Holly runs in asking for help to get away from the island. Jean Paul, possessed by Jacques, is watching on the monitor and records a message for Jean Paul to stop or not see Erica. Holly asks Alison if they do speak with Jean Paul about leaving, how will they know it’s him?
Later, Jean Paul is in the secret room and turns on the tape recorder and hears Jacques’ message. He records to Erica that he tried to play God and brought the devil. However, no one will leave until she is alive again.
Upstairs, Holly tells Alison she can stow away to leave but Alison says they are being watched. In the main hall, Jacques asks Jean Paul if he got the message, telling him they have work to do. Jean Paul resists, but Jacques says he has no choice unless he finds the conjure doll. Jean Paul asks him how he found the room. Jacques simply laughs, insisting he’s here to help to bring Erica alive. Jacques tells Jean Paul to go to his room and he’ll help him, but Jean Paul threatens to find the pin with Raxl’s help. Jacques says he’ll give him a sporting chance by not telling him where the doll and pin are. As they talk, Alison and Holly descend the stairs, intending to speak with Jean Paul. He dismisses this, saying must attend to something and leaves. Alison and Holly stand at the fireplace. Thunder and lightening sound and the room goes dark. They are terrified.
In the secret room, Jean Paul records a message about how to free himself. He wonders if he will ever see Erica again if he does manage to free himself of Jacques. He looks at the monitor and sees Jacques, who tells him he is on his side.
Elsewhere, Alison and Holly talk. Holly says she is now uncertain about Jean Paul and Alison agrees he’s changed. She tells Holly that Jean Paul simply doesn’t know what to do about all the guests and the knowledge they possess, mentioning what bad publicity it would be for him. Holly regrets getting herself into this. Alison implies she brought it on herself but Holly doesn’t like this. Alison clarifies, telling Holly she’s talking about Holly’s treatment of the Reverend. She says she should respect him, making Holly angry. Tim and Elizabeth descend the stairs. Tim asks if Holly will sit for the portrait and she says she will do it later, then runs upstairs, ignoring her mother. As Tim sets up the painting, Elizabeth says Holly must not really be of much help to him. Tim tells her it’s hard to pose for a dead woman. Elizabeth tells Tim she’d like to see more of his art and begins to flirt with him. In the secret room, Jean Paul observes all of this. Jacques appears on the monitor and comments on Elizabeth and her ideas, advising Jean Paul to keep an eye on her.
Upstairs, Holly and Alison speak in Alison’s room. Holly apologizes and feels sorry for herself Alison tells Holly she could and should smile more often. She says Holly needs to take steps for happiness and Holly says that’s why she ran away. Alison tells her she brought all her troubles with her including the Reverend. Although Alison says he’s trying to help Holly, Holly is very skeptical.
Downstairs, Elizabeth insists on seeing Tim’s art, and Tim is puzzled as to why, telling her she’s only out on the island for her own pleasures. He says she’s on the take for Jean Paul, Holly and even himself. Elizabeth is offended, telling Tim he’s rude, but Tim does not back down, implying he’s aware of her game and telling her “cancelled out” – Elizabeth storms away. In the secret room, Jacques comments to Jean Paul how he likes Tim’s attitude, mentioning that Elizabeth is unpredictable.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth asks Holly to do something for her. She warns her to steer clear of Tim. Holly asks if this is so Elizabeth can have him to herself, sarcastically questioning whether or not she needs to stay away from Jean Paul as well. Elizabeth tells her that Jean Paul has his eye on her. Holly suggests that she and her mother are rivals, and implies that Elizabeth can have the Reverend if she wants. Holly insists that Elizabeth is after Jean Paul’s money and tried to get Tim as well, but Tim isn’t interested. Elizabeth is offended and Holly leaves.
Alison enters and asks where Holly went. Elizabeth says she is worried about her, but Alison tells Elizabeth she needs to make an effort to be a mother. She says Holly really needs one. Angered, Elizabeth tells Alison she is just afraid that she might be a rival to her.
In the secret room, Jacques congratulates Jean Paul on the fact that women are fighting over him. He says he can’t wait to get into the act because, unlike Jean Paul, he will act.
