In the lab, Alison ponders the missing cyanide.  Quito surprises her and she asks him about the poison.  Quito indicates he’s seen the bottle but Alison can’t understand what he’s trying to tell her.  Quito indicates he will get something then finds Raxl to translate for him.  Alison asks Raxl about the poison and Raxl translates that Jean Paul took it two days before.  Alison shows Raxl a picture of the notation on the bottle and she says she saw it in the case.

Raxl tells Alison that she fears Jean Paul took it under the spell of Jacques.  She says all the problems on Maljardin are the result of Jacques’ influence.  Alison warns that there was enough in the bottle to kill everyone on the island.  Raxl believes Jean Paul to be two different people.  Alison tells her she believes the only reason for taking the cyanide would be to commit suicide.

Alison explains to Raxl that the files on Erica are missing.  Raxl confesses that there are many hiding places on the island and Alison asks if Raxl has searched Jean Paul’s room.  Raxl says she does not go there but Alison insists that she should.  Later, Raxl tells Quito that she searched the room but found nothing.  She tells Quito they will go to the temple and summon the conjure woman. 

Downstairs, Alison searches for Raxl as the Rev. Dawson enters.  They speak of how everyone is on edge.  Alison confesses she needs all the religious support she can get.  She mentions the missing cyanide to Rev. Dawson, and tells him she has no idea where it’s at, although she says she might know who has it but doesn’t specify.

In the temple, Raxl uses the tarot cards.  She calls upon the Gods to convey a message to the conjure woman, asking her to come to the island.  Raxl and Quito plead with the conjure woman to help them. 

Back in the main hall, Alison and Rev. Dawson discuss magic and Jacques.  The Rev. Dawson is dismissive of Raxl’s thoughts about Jacques, telling Alison that he doesn’t believe in possession, but Alison reminds him the Bible mentions it, and says that Jean Paul fits the description of a man possessed.  Rev. Dawson agrees but says they must find out what controls Jean Paul.  Alison informs Rev. Dawson that the file on Erica is also missing. Rev. Dawson believes there might be one more place to search.  He heads to the crypt.

In the crypt, Rev. Dawson searches for the opening to the temple but cannot find it and returns to the living room.  Alison asks the Reverend what he found but he cannot explain due to his promise to Raxl.  In the temple, Raxl’s prayers bring the conjure woman.  She appears on the altar with the prediction that her death will be on the island.
