Voiceover: RAXL-“Jean Paul Desmond, the last heir to the haunted island of Maljardin has sworn and eternal pact with the powers of evil for the return of his beloved Erica to life, but the bargain has not been kept and the hours slip by. In fury, he challenges the emissary of the devil Jacques Eloi DesMondes.”
Jean Paul speaks to the portrait of Jacques, demanding the return of Erica. He tells Jacques that he was promised that Erica would return this day and it has not yet happened. Alison enters and tells Jean Paul that he must accept that Erica is dead; even her body is gone. Ignoring Alison, Jean Paul declares that is it not the end, only the beginning. He insists they will all see for themselves.
Alison is astonished and asks Jean Paul if he really thinks Erica will come back. Jean Paul cryptically replies that is was promised for today and tells Alison to leave him. Alison tells Jean Paul that she was thinking about something Dan said – that Erica hasn’t come back because of the presence of outsiders. Jean Paul replies that nothing can prevent Erica’s return, as there is a force stronger than all of them bringing her to him. Alison wonders if he will let the other leave, but again Jean Paul says he will not. Upstairs, Raxl overhears the conversation. Alison asks Jean Paul what good it would do to keep them all here, as if this force he speaks of is so strong they can’t be needed. Jean Paul insists that no one must leave and that nothing must be changed. As Jean Paul wonders what more he can do, Jacques speaks and tells him that there is nothing he can do - the journey has already begun.
Meanwhile, Raxl feels the evil drawing nearer. She tells Alison that Jean Paul will not let her leave. She is aware that Dan plans to leave and she says she will help, but it is too late for the moment. They all must prepare to meet the stranger.
Later, Quito brings a pot to the temple. Raxl instructs him to light the fire as she begins to pray to the great serpent. She asks if there is anything they can do to prevent the evil that approaches. She begs for the help of the Great Serpent, as she still cannot find the rabbit. She asks where the rabbit is and a voice tells her that it is in the bedroom. Raxl then asks for the power to bring it to the great serpent.
In the hall, Jean Paul wonders how much longer he must wait. The power returns, and the mark of evil appears over Jacques. A voice tells him that Erica will return soon, but great care must be taken that nothing must be altered and no living thing must die in the last moments, or he will lose everything.
In the bedroom, Raxl finds the rabbit. Quito takes it. Raxl tells the rabbit that Holly cannot protect it and moves to leave. At that moment Mrs. Marshall enters and wonders what Raxl and Quito are doing there and why they have a rabbit. Raxl tells her that the rabbit is Quito’s pet and they were looking for it. As Quito exits, Mrs. Marshall asks where Holly is, but Raxl does not answer, telling her that she must go and cannot be delayed. Raxl exits, leaving Mrs. Marshall confused as to what’s happening.
Quito attempts to sneak down the stairs but Jean Paul discovers him holding the rabbit. Jean Paul commands Quito to tell him what he is doing. Raxl tells him that they are doing nothing with the rabbit, but Jean Paul does not believe her. He knows she wishes to sacrifice it. He demands the animal, but Raxl says that a sacrifice must be performed. Jean Paul again commands them to hand over the rabbit. Quito obeys and gives the rabbit to Jean Paul. As he walks away with it, Raxl stops him with her power, freezing Jean Paul in his tracks. Raxl and Quito move to get the rabbit while he is disabled, but before they can get it Jean Paul recovers.
Mrs. Marshall enters and tells Jean Paul he must go to the lab as Alison looks like death. She relates that Alison mentioned something about poison. Jean Paul gives the rabbit to Mrs. Marshall and tells her to guard it. She wonders why.
In the lab, Jean Paul asks Alison what’s wrong and Alison tells him that the poison she made from the plants on the island is gone. It was there and she felt a chill, turned around and when she turned back it was gone.
Meanwhile, Raxl asks Mrs. Marshall to give Quito the rabbit so he can take it back to where it belongs. Not wanting to hold on to it any longer, Mrs. Marshall hands it over. Back in the lab, Alison insists she was alone and the door was locked, so she does not know where the poison could have gone. Suddenly, they hear a tinkling sound and the door slams shut. Jean Paul checks outside but no one is there. As they look on the counter, they notice that the test tube is back, but it is empty.
Jean Paul comes back to the main hall and asks Mrs. Marshall what she did with the rabbit. She tells him she gave it to Raxl and Quito. Jean Paul is incensed and tells her to get out. After Mrs. Marshall leaves, Jean Paul begs Jacques to help him bring Erica back now before the rabbit can be killed. The mark appears and a voice tells him that the entrance to the temple is in the crypt. The voice instructs Jean Paul to go there to prevent the sacrifice. Jean Paul runs downstairs and stops Raxl and Quito before they enter the temple. Raxl insists they will enter and Jean Paul asks if she dares to defy him. Raxl replies that she is there to serve but if they must disobey Jean Paul for his own safety it must be allowed. Jean Paul refuses and demands the rabbit. Raxl uses her powers to disable him while she and Quito enter the temple.
Upstairs, the voice tells Jacques to break the hold over Jean Paul. Jacques obeys. Downstairs, Jean Paul recovers and Jacques tells him to go to the great hall in order to stop Raxl and Quito. In the hall, a heartbeat is heard. The sign appears over the portrait and the voice tells Jean Paul that there is no time to lose. Jean Paul must do exactly as he is told, without question. The voice commands him to place an empty glass on the center of the table. Reminding Jean Paul of the bargain, the voices commands him to look at the glass. As Jean Paul watches, it fills with the missing poison from the test tube. The voice orders Jean Paul to take the glass.
In the temple, Raxl is prepared to sacrifice the rabbit. She begs protection for all on the island in exchange. Quito moves to kill the rabbit. Upstairs, the voice orders Jean Paul to drink the poison but he is hesitant. The voice tells him he must take the essence of the evil on Maljardin into himself. Having no choice, Jean Paul drinks. In the crypt, the rabbit disappears in a puff of smoke and Jacques laughs. Raxl cries out that they were too late.
Upstairs, the voice tells Jean Paul that he has performed his task well and he is now one of them. It tells him to look at his hand. As he does so, Jean Paul sees the mark of death there. The voice tells him that when the mark, they will be with him. Jean Paul asks about Erica and then hears the tinkling sound. The voice tells Jean Paul that Erica is coming. Jean Paul asks where she is. Suddenly, the main doors open and a woman enters – it is Erica. Jean Paul embraces and kisses her passionately.
