In the temple, Raxl asks the Reverend if he will allow the devil to possess Jean Paul. The Reverend is not sure how to prevent it.  Raxl tells him they must persuade Jean Paul to save himself, and asks the Reverend to keep the temple secret. He promises to do so.

In the main hall, Tim is painting the portrait of Erica, using Holly as his model. As Holly poses, she tells Tim how wonderful she thinks Jean Paul is, which gets Tim upset. Tim tells her to stop talking about him. Meanwhile, in the crypt, Raxl tells the Reverend that  the Tarot desk has told her that the entire island needs help. The Reverend tells Raxl that Vangie foretold his arrival to the island.

Upstairs, Holly apologizes to Tim for being a bad model, but Tim tells her that he’s upset at how the situation has turned out and he’s taking it all out on her.  He’s also upset with the painting.  Holly tries to convince him that Jean Paul will love the portrait as Raxl and the Reverend come in. The Reverend inquires about the portrait.  Unnoticed, Raxl goes upstairs and drops two tarot cards.  The Reverend asks Tim if he can give an opinion but Tim declines to hear it. The Reverend excuses himself and leaves. He finds the cards on the floor and recognizes that they signify danger or death.  Holly inquires about the cards, recognizing them as Tarot.  The Reverend says he brought them to Raxl from Vangie.  One is the King of Scepters-the traditional omen of bad fortune.  The other is the Queen and it is unknown who it refers to.  Holly is intent on finding the answer.

At the café, Vangie is reading the tarot for a couple.  The man is skeptical but Vangie assures him that whatever the cards say is true - she can read the cards perfectly.

Back on Maljardin, Tim is not interested in finding out more about the cards.  The Reverend wonders why Raxl dropped them and Holly wonders to whom they might refer.  They ask Raxl when she returns but she will not tell.  She gets upset and goes to the crypt.  Holly goes upstairs, leaving the Reverend and Tim alone.  Tim tells the Reverend that he doesn’t believe Raxl had anything to tell them.  The Reverend thinks she does but she’s scared to say.  Tim admits the island is odd and he’s scared but says Raxl can take care of herself.

In the temple, Raxl tells Quito the Reverend must help as they are all in danger.  Raxl calls to the Conjure woman, asking her to come to her aid.

Meanwhile, Tim ends the painting session as the sun is gone.  He is still upset with the painting.  Holly agrees it’s not as good as his sketch, but it’s OK.  Tim says Erica needs to be alive for him to paint her.  He confesses it’s odd that Jean Paul wants to bring Erica back and he wonders if the Tarot can help.  Holly tells Tim that the Reverend bugs her but she likes Jean Paul.  She’s impressed at his efforts to raise Erica, but Tim is skeptical of Jean Paul’s motives, wondering if it is indeed all out of love.

In the crypt, Raxl meets the Reverend. He wants to know about the Tarot cards. He guesses the King is Jean Paul but who is the queen?  Raxl only says that Holly is in danger – she knows no more than that.  The Reverend begs her to find out more.

Upstairs, Tim tells Holly he might have made a bad decision by agreeing to paint Erica, but he must finish as the money is already gone.  Holly says they should leave but Tim disagrees.  The Reverend enters and reiterates that he is there to see Holly be happy.  She is skeptical.  Tim leaves the room and the Reverend tells Holly that he’s worried about her.  She doesn’t want to hear, but the Reverend insists.  He tells Holly her life is in danger and begs her to listen.  She wants to know what the danger is. 

The Reverend tells her Raxl thinks the Queen of Aces is Holly.  He confirms that all is not right on the island and Jean Paul is part of it all.  There is a threat to everyone, especially Holly.  Holly refuses to believe that Jean Paul would harm her, but the Reverend insists there is a cloud of evil around him.  Holly gets upset at this remark. Undeterred, the Reverend asks Holly to report any odd behavior on the part of Jean Paul, but Holly says instead she’ll ask Jean Paul to get rid of him.

In the crypt, Raxl asks Vangie for help.  At the café, Vangie hears.  Raxl again begs for her to come to Maljardin.  Vangie is upset by the message and does not want to come, but Raxl says they will pray to the Great Serpent to bring Vangie to Maljardin.
