Maljardin Arc
EPISODE 11

Vangie visits the Conjure Man who says she has come just in time, as the Great Serpent has sent for him. He tells her he has been waiting for someone to take his place and there is no one but Vangie. Vangie objects, saying that she doesn’t believe in the religion, but the Conjure Man tells her she cannot deny her destiny. The Conjure Man tells Vangie that the devil is loose on Maljardin and that the minister will be sent for. He claims that the forces of evil have drawn the line between God and the devil.

On Maljardin, Alison greets Jean Paul/Jacques, telling him she has had her first restful night’s sleep since arriving there. Jean Paul says that he, too, is more at ease knowing that Alison will be remaining. Alison says that if she stays she needs certain promises fulfilled, including that her father must be notified of Erica’s death. Jean Paul/Jacques repeats that he does not want the story to get out to the press. Jean Paul tells Alison that, as a doctor, she should not deny him the chance to try and bring Erica back. Alison asks him how he’ll convince the others to keep the story quiet forever, but Jean Paul replies that he doesn’t need forever, only a little more time. Alison challenges Jean Paul to bring the Reverend Dawson to the island to perform a service for Erica. Jean Paul/Jacques scoffs at this, but Alison tells him it is hard for her to accept his beliefs when he so clearly defies the will of God.

The Conjure Man is casting a spell. Jacques realizes this and leaves Jean Paul’s body. No longer possessed, Jean Paul agrees to the Reverend coming to the island. The Conjure Man tells Vangie that the Reverend will need help and to ally him with the man who stands closest to Jean Paul – the Knight of Pentacles, or Dan Forrest. Vangie says she has already sent for him.

Later, Quito and Jean Paul arrive at the Café. Jean Paul spots Reverend Dawson and speaks with him. The Reverend inquires as to how Holly is doing. Jean Paul tells him she is fine but a bit down due to her mother’s presence. Jean Paul tells the Reverend he’d like him to come to the island in a professional capacity, but asks him to keep it in the strictest confidence. He tells him that he wants funeral rites for Erica, but that the Reverend must not mention this to anyone. The Reverend is skeptical, but agrees that Erica needs a funeral service and agrees to it. The Reverend tells Vangie he’s been invited to this island.

Vangie informs Jean Paul that Dan Forrest has arrived at her request. Jean Paul is not happy with this. Dan asks Jean Paul what is wrong, telling him that he is concerned over Vangie’s warning and that of the Conjure Man. Jean Paul becomes possessed as Dan is talking to him, and Jean Paul/Jacques tells Dan to go home, informing him that what is going on is none of his business, nor is Alison Carr. He tells Dan to get out of his life. Dan says he’ll leave but he is taking Alison with him. He tries to force the issue, but Quito intervenes, not letting Dan pass. Jean Paul/Jacques and Quito depart.

Dan tells Vangie that since he’s been fired he’ll take his “vacation” on the island and find out what’s going on. He asks Vangie what her tarot cards say and she tells him that a woman is in danger from the King of Coins, yet Vangie is unsure who, or what, that represents.
