Maljardin Arc
EPISODE 17

Raxl reads the tarot cards in the crypt, with the Conjure Man, at his home, reading at the same time.  The Conjure Man says he needs to know the truth about Jean Paul and Jacques before he dies. Hey says the Matt Dawson represents the fool, while the King of Scepters is no longer Jean Paul – he is another. The Conjure Man also says that the King of Coins (Dan Forrest) must come to the island, and that they must use levitation if there is no other way. The Conjure Man calls to Raxl, telling her that the Great Serpent calls him home. He asks Raxl how the devil was freed and she tells him. He then asks where the conjure doll and pin are. While this is happening, Jacques possesses Jean Paul.

Raxl pleads with the Conjure Man to help her find the pin, but the Conjure Man tells her he is unable to help. Jean Paul/Jacques enters the crypt, saying that he heard voices and asks who was there. He spots the tarot cards on the table and takes them, saying they are his, but then gives the back to Raxl with the warning that she should be wary not to overplay her hand.

Later, Raxl emerges from the crypt to find Jean Paul asleep on the couch. Jacques taunts Jean Paul, chastising him for being tired, and tells him never to go back to the main island, but also that Dan Forrest needs to be on Maljardin. Jacques tells Jean Paul that the day will come when the dead will rise and that there will be many sacrifices – all of his choosing. Jean Paul begs Jacques to leave everyone alone, but Jacques asks where that would leave Erica.

Alison enters and Jean Paul says he has a headache. Alison asks if he’s been taking his tranquilizers, but Jean Paul says he doesn’t need them. Jean Paul says that the Reverend is still unsure about performing Erica’s service. Alison again tells him that death is final and that he is denying the will of God, to which Jean Paul replies that the choice was forced upon him by God. Alison then leaves.

Jacques again speaks to Jean Paul, telling him that Alison is quite divine and implying strongly that he desires her. Jean Paul threatens to destroy the painting, but Jacques says that that might destroy him as well.

At his home, the Conjure Man passes his power on to Vangie then passes out. On Maljardin, Alison runs into the main hall, where Jean Paul has once again been possessed by Jacques.  She tells him that she was down in the crypt putting flowers on Erica’s capsule and got frightened. Alison comments on the painting, saying that Jacques seems very lively. She then tells Jean Paul that after the service she will be leaving Maljardin. Jean Paul/Jacques repeats that he doesn’t want to lose her.

The Conjure Man says Vangie is the Conjure Woman now and that only she has the power. He tells her that she cannot rest until she returns Jacques to the hell he built for himself. He tells Vangie he’ll always be there for her if she needs him – she simply has to call for him. He then dies.

Jean Paul is himself again. Alison tells him he needs a change, saying that he should leave the island and take Erica with him. He refuses. Alison again mentions that she will be leaving, but Jean Paul begs her to stay. She says it’s hard for her to remain, but he reiterates that no one can leave until Erica is alive again. Alison tells him she can’t stay forever, then goes upstairs.

Raxl enters and tells Jean Paul she is very afraid. She informs him that the Conjure Man is dead and begs Jean Paul to leave the island and take everyone with him.
