EPISODE 19

Raxl is in the crypt putting flowers on Erica’s capsule.  Quito enters, also bringing flowers.  Eventually Alison and Jean Paul appear.  Raxl says Christianity is the new religion and the Serpent Religion is old.  Alison mentions that Erica would be better beneath the ground.  Jean Paul insists she will never be in the ground while there is hope for her coming back, then asks for a few moments alone with Erica.

Upstairs, Alison has questions regarding the religion of Quito and Raxl.  Dan says that worshippers of the serpent consider Christians heretics, but despite this, they will be at the service for Erica. Alison tells the Reverend she is thankful to him for agreeing to perform the service.  He says he is following his conscience.  Alison tells him she should have prevented this in the first place.

Holly goes to ask the Reverend for advice.  She wonders what Jean Paul would do if she doesn’t attend the service.  She didn’t like her father’s service so she doesn’t want to go again.  In addition, she tells the Reverend she had a nightmare warning against it.  Raxl and Quito have overheard them while preparing the ceremony in the basement.  Holly says a woman who looked like her mother was standing over her, like a priestess, telling her that “those who are part of this evil must pay the price.”  The Reverend is unsure what it means but tells Holly she should still attend the service.

Jean Paul goes down to the crypt and all assemble with him as the Reverend says words over the capsule.  The service concludes and everyone leaves except Raxl and Quito.  Raxl tells Quito it’s not over but only the beginning.

Upstairs, Holly is distraught.  She says the worst is yet to come.  She is upset that she can’t leave as her mother is on her trail, so she vows to stay as long as she can.  She also worries that her mother is cozying up to Jean Paul.  Meanwhile, Elizabeth is trying to flatter Jean Paul with thoughts of his wife but he’s not buying it.  He implies he knows what she is trying to do.  Dan inquires of what will happen to everyone now that the service is over.  Jean Paul is noncommittal.  Dan says he wants to fly back to New York.

At that moment, Jacques possesses Jean Paul.  Dan says he’s leaving and is taking Alison with him.  Jean Paul/Jacques ignores him and instead asks if all are staying and all seem to agree.  Jean Paul/Jacques then reminds Alison that she promised to stay on if the service was done and she admits she did.  She somehow now feels she needs to stay here.  Dan insists he still wants to leave and asks Jean Paul if they are free to leave the island. Jean Paul/Jacques does not directly answer, but instead says cryptically that they can try to leave on their own but it’s a tough swim. He then descends to the crypt.

Alone, Jean Paul/Jacques confirms that all on the island are prisoners including Jean Paul and Erica.
