EPISODE 33

In the crypt, Quito lays flowers on Erica’s capsule. Upstairs, Holly insists to Tim that someone tried to kill her. Tim is skeptical and Holly storms out of the room, no longer sitting for the painting. Tim follows her. Quito arrives upstairs and notices the painting. He is fascinated by it, touches it, then falls to the floor.

Alison and Dan return from the cove, still not having found the cyanide. Dan questions  Vangie’s purpose in doing the séance. As they talk, they discover Quito on the floor. Dan says he’s dead, and Alison confirms that he has no heartbeat, no pulse. Alison wonders about all of the things that are happening, and Dan says it’s time to call the police. Alison kneels down by Quito and detects breath, despite the lack of pulse and heartbeat. Alison declares Quito must really be a zombie. Tim and Holly arrive. Dan leaves for the crypt and tells Holly and Tim to keep an eye on Quito.

In the crypt, Dan searches by the capsule and in Quito’s room. As he searches a scream is heard. Dan rushes upstairs to see Quito rising from the floor and lunging for Holly. The Reverend and Tim try to stop him, but he pushes them aside. Alison steps in front and commands Quito to stop, which he does, and then he moves to the painting and tears the cover off to reveal it. Alison mentions how close the painting resembles Holly.

Quito motions and Alison/Dan interpret that he is in love with Erica, and seeing the striking resemblance to Holly, he got confused when he arose. Holly is quite shaken by this. The Reverend attempts to calm her, but she rejects him. Reverend says Quito meant no harm, but Holly doesn’t buy it. Alison attempts to get Holly to understand Quito, but she is still upset. The Reverend speculates that there is something of Erica in Holly.

Dan suggests that if Jean Paul can’t resurrect Erica, Holly is a handy substitute. Tim says his sketch of Erica looks nothing like the painting. Dan tells him his painting skills could provide him a future if he could get off the island. Alison feels sorry for Quito and the fact that he sees something in Holly and she fears him. Alison questions why Quito rose from the dead – hopefully not so he can kill. Holly and Tim talk – Tim again tells her he likes her and she rebuffs him.

Dan suggests to the Reverend that they work together and keep a cool head. Dan confesses he has been loyal to Jean Paul, but he objects to being held prisoner and to what Jean Paul is doing with Erica, along with his mood changes. Dan asks the Reverend what Jean Paul’s actions suggest to him, but the Reverend is at a loss to explain them. Dan says that Jean Paul is almost over the edge, and when he goes they will all wind up dead. Meanwhile, in his room, Quito silently cries out.

Upstairs, Dan tells the Reverend of his objection to the séance, yet the Reverend refuses to question it. Dan says they might make people believe what they want, yet the  Reverend says he’s sympathetic to anyone trying to escape from loss.

Downstairs, Holly enters the crypt, walking towards Erica’s capsule. Quito senses her and moves up behind her as she kneels by the capsule. Holly speaks to Erica, confessing she’s afraid of Quito, her mother, and the Reverend, and that she fears someone wants to kill her. She confesses she loves Jean Paul like she loves her father, yet she is lost and alone. She asks for help and wants to know what Quito saw in the picture. Quito overhears all of this. Holly senses him, turns and runs from him as he approaches.

Upstairs, Holly screams for everyone in the main hall to come see what they’ve done…she shows them the portrait, which has now been ripped apart.
