EPISODE 34

Raxl, Quito and Vangie are in the temple. Raxl explains that Vangie will pierce the veil of the sprit and will speak with Erica. She’s aware of the danger and asks for guidance from the great serpent. Vangie has an attack, as with a knife, on her face.

In the hall, Holly talks of the portrait, slashed with a knife. She takes it as a message for her. Mrs. Marshall is more worried of Jean Paul’s reaction, as he holds all of their destinies in his hand. The Reverend asks if Holly has any ideas about who slashed the portrait. She says maybe it was him, her mother or the devil. She says someone wants to tell her something and she’s scared, then she storms off.

In the crypt, Vangie talks of psychometric transference. She says she felt the knife, yet not who carried it. Raxl suspects Mrs. Marshall.

Jean Paul enters the main hall and Jacques tells him the smell of death is all around. He warns extreme caution. Holly confesses to the Reverend she is suspicious of everyone except Jean Paul, but the Reverend counters that Jean Paul is the one exposing her to the dangers. Holly insists that Jean Paul is like a father to her.

The Reverend tells Holly that he thinks it’s odd that she believes he was the one who tried to kill her because he’s in love with her.  Holly tells the Reverend that if she dies in the next few months her mother loses all of her money. Mrs. Marshall overhears this and speaks with the Reverend. He asks her if she knows poison was missing. When she replies in the affirmative, the Reverend muses on the notion that poison is “a woman’s weapon.”

Later, Quito returns with salt of sea and phosphorescence, Vangie tells him she approves of what he has brought. Mrs. Marshall asks if Vangie believes the Reverend pushed Holly down the stairs. Vangie says she’s not convinced. Mrs. Marshall tells Vangie that the Reverend’s motive could be jealousy, yet Vangie believes that the Reverend’s love for Holly might be true. Mrs. Marshall asks Vangie to judge that for her.

Mrs. Marshall says that when Holly called about the painting, she sensed that the Reverend was lurking in the dining room, putting back a knife. Vangie tells Mrs. Marshall that she senses that because she wants to believe it, or she wants her to believe it, and tells her that the truth will be known at the séance.

In the crypt, the Reverend is stopped by Quito. He says he’s looking for Raxl. Quito will not let him pass, but he insists. He reminds him he was shown the secret of the temple and promises not to harm anything, yet when he tries to pass Quito grabs him. Raxl arrives and tells the Reverend that Jean Paul has ordered that no one go down into the crypt. The Reverend tells her that he knows who is spreading the evil.

In the main hall Quito and Raxl search for the conjure doll and pin, but they cannot find them. Raxl accuses Quito of having the devil in him as well. They lift up the top of the side table and find a box, but it is empty. They move upstairs.

The Reverend tells Holly that Raxl is now talking of death,  and she worries she will be the first one to die. The Reverend says he will try to prevent it, but Holly does not believe him. The Reverend tells Holly that Dan and Alison believe that Jean Paul is doing all of these things himself. The Reverend is worried that Jean Paul will be upset by the séance He tells Holly they all need to leave together, but she does not believe him. While the Reverend talks, Quito listens on the stairs. Holly and the Reverend discover Quito listening so they stop talking, and the Reverend goes upstairs.

Raxl tells Quito that they must watch everyone as death is in the air. She wonders who will be the first to die, then screams “you demon” at the portrait of Jacques.

In the crypt, Quito cries at Erica’s capsule. Raxl and Vangie approach and Raxl asks if Quito uncovered the painting before he fainted. He says no. She asks if Quito thought it was Erica alive again and he tearfully agrees, to which Vangie replies “transference” again. They all go to the temple to seek answers. Vangie says there will be no séance, but Raxl insists there will be. Vangie then says there will be but there will be sorrow because of it.
