EPISODE 44

In the main hall, Vangie descends the stairs, ready for the séance. She says it must happen now to ascertain where the locket came from. Only Erica can tell them if the locket is the one from the capsule.  Dan wonders if someone opened the capsule and removed it, but the Reverend says that’s not possible. Holly suggests it was Raxl as she wanted so desperately to kill the rabbit.

Vangie suggests that the rabbit might contain the spirit of Erica. Dan insists that if the locket has blood on it then it must be Erica’s, but the Reverend reminds him that Erica died of eclampsia, where there is no blood. However, Dan suggests Erica might have been murdered, and that Menkin was killed because he knew the truth. Dan threatens to call the police, but the Reverend cautions him against that.

Vangie calls everyone to the séance table, informing them that there is a presence there already. The Reverend, Holly and Mrs. Marshall sit. Vangie insists that Dan not be present, so he leaves.
Suddenly, Vangie screams “Let me out!” She points at Holly and repeats the word “out” then comes out of the trance and wonders where Holly is. She says there are two competing sprits there. She asks the portrait of Jacques if one of them is him, stating that he’s always been an enemy. She speaks of an angry force, confined. Vangie wonders if the secret is in the blood or the locket.

Mrs. Marshall says she wishes Jean Paul was present. Vangie angrily turns on her and tells her that her influence will be disruptive, and orders her to leave. Mrs. Marshall is offended and tells Vangie that she will not be ordered around. Vangie insists that Mrs. Marshall brings anger, and Mrs. Marshall storms upstairs.

Later, in Holly’s room, Mrs. Marshall tells Holly she no longer trusts Jean Paul. Holly agrees, telling her mother that she finally has noticed the change in him. Mrs. Marshall realizes she needs to get off the island now. She confesses she didn’t take things too seriously, but now she is frightened.

Downstairs, Vangie asks for Alison, Holly and Jean Paul. She predicts that Dan plans to use violence against Jean Paul, and as a result Dan will be destroyed, while Jean Paul’s mind and body will hang in the balance due to acts of the devil. The Reverend wonders if it’s really the devil, of simply someone posing as the devil. He suspects that it could be anyone. Vangie wonders aloud what will follow the rabbit and the locket. Will it be Erica?

Upstairs, Mrs. Marshall tells Holly she is concerned that Jean Paul thinks Erica is reincarnated as the rabbit. She says she and Holly need each other, as what Jean Paul thinks affects them all. Holly says she and Tim have looked for a way off the island, but have had no luck. Mrs. Marshall is sure that Dan will find a way out, but it must be now or never. She tells Holly that it is prudent to watch Jean Paul closely and suggests that Holly should go down to the séance. She does not believe that the chandelier was brought down by sprits.

Downstairs, Dan tells the Reverend that he is going to make his move. The Reverend warns against it. Dan vows to get off the island bring the police and open the cryo capsule, perhaps to find Erica with her throat cut. Dan wonders what will happen next. Vangie insists that if the rabbit is evil then it is an evil transference and not Erica. Dan persists with his notions of escape, mentioning that they cannot guard the boathouse all the time and saying that he can get a boat to work.

Holly arrives at the séance. Vangie asks her to sit down, telling everyone that Holly’s presence makes her vision clearer. Vangie feels something coming and says all will be right. She asks people to cleanse their minds of all thoughts except for Erica. Immediately she tells Dan to leave as his anger is causing her to be distracted. He leaves the table.

Vangie says there is a warning but she cannot bring it through, and suddenly screams “the rage, the rage, let me out!” and Jean Paul, Jean Paul!” Holly then screams “let me out” several times and falls silent. Dan brings her something to drink. Vangie insists that spirits will come through one of them somehow.

After taking a drink, Holly suddenly collapses. Dan wonders if he just killed her with missing cyanide.
