Voiceover: Dan Forrest- “The haunted island of Maljardin. On this stormy night, Jean Paul Desmond, the master of the island, has commanded his unwilling guests to join him in calling forth the ghost of his dead wife. But the séance ends with the mysterious death of Vangie the medium. And in her lifeless hand was found the pearl that had belonged to the mistress of Maljardin.”

In the main hall, Raxl hands Jean Paul the pearl and he takes it as a sign that Erica was there – he is convinced she is not dead. Holly faints. Jean Paul leaves the room and Alison follows. Alone, Raxl has a worried look on her face.

In the crypt, Jean Paul speaks to Erica, telling her that they will soon be together. He is about to open the capsule, but Alison comes in and stops him. Jean Paul insists that Erica was there and the only way to get her back is to open the capsule. Alison asks him why he is hesitant to open the capsule, and Jean Paul says that it’s because of the fact that only the dead can speak during a séance, so if he heard Erica’s voice she must be dead, which means the cryonics process was a failure. Jean Paul wonders why Erica spoke thru Holly – he wonders if it was all a trick to get him to open the capsule. He accuses Alison of wanting Erica dead. Alison tells him he will never know for sure until he opens the capsule.

In her room, Tim and Mrs. Marshall look after Holly.  Holly awakens, telling everyone that she feels better. Mrs. Marshall asks if she needs a doctor but Holly insists she is ok. Mrs. Marshall leaves, telling Holly that she is down the hall if she needs her. Once she is gone, Holly asks Tim what happened during the seance. She can remember they were holding hands and the séance started, but then it felt as if she wasn’t there. She could feel herself breathing, a touch of hands, but it all seemed far away. Tim tells her Erica spoke thru her. Holly is astounded by this. Holly asks what Erica was like. Tim tells her she seemed gentle, living and promised to come back. Holly is trembling, cold, as if someone opened a window. Tim assures her there is no one there. Holly tells Tim she feels the same way she did at the beginning of the séance. She finally realizes that Tim said Vangie was dead.

Downstairs, Raxl instructs Quito to take Vangie’s body to the burial ground, telling him that they must protect the living. Raxl wonders where the rabbit has gone and whom it was seeking. Upstairs, the rabbit has reappeared in the basket in Holly’s room.
Meanwhile, Dan is still thinking of leaving the island, as the tides will be right just before dawn. He asks Tim to come, but Tim says he needs to stay for Holly’s sake. In the crypt, Raxl says she sensed great evil during the séance and wonders how she can stop it.

In the lab, Mrs. Marshall looks through vials and bottles. The Reverend enters, wondering who could be in the lab. Mrs. Marshall says she was looking for something to help her sleep. She tells the Reverend that she wonders if the séance was a trick of Holly's, and questions why Erica picked Holly to speak through. She then asks if the Reverend can exorcise spirits. He insists they are not dealing with a spirit, but rather a living person. He confesses that he is growing less and less sure of what he can believe the longer he remains on the island.

In the main hall, Raxl searches for the rabbit using a talisman. She wants to sacrifice it, but is receiving no guidance from her gods. She heads upstairs. In her room, Holly is petting the rabbit. She hears a noise at the door and opens it. Raxl enters and asks Holy if there is anything she can do for her. Holly suddenly feels cold. Raxl notices the rabbit and asks to take it out of the room. Holly tells her to leave it as she is happy the rabbit has come back, but when she moves to look inside the basket she finds it empty. Raxl tells her that some believe that the rabbit is evil and needs to be sacrificed. Holly doesn’t understand, but Raxl tells her it is part of her belief system, as touching wood is to hers. She asks Holly to let her know if she finds the rabbit.

Downstairs, Jean Paul asks Jacques why he is not laughing now. He wonders aloud if Jacques has been frightened into silence. Raxl enters, telling Jean Paul that she has been searching for him. Jean Paul informs her that the capsule is still unopened. Raxl insists that it must remain so, telling Jean Paul that evil entered the house during the séance. Jean Paul will not hear it. He cannot believe Raxl is saying such things, saying that Vangie might have simply died from strain. Raxl asks for a favor – she asks for time to purify the sprits, but Jean Paul says there is no time, insisting that he must decide to free Erica or not.

Later, Raxl tells Quito they must find the rabbit before the capsule is opened so they can sacrifice it. She orders Quito to look for it. The rabbit suddenly appears next to the coffins in the crypt. In the hall, Jean Paul asks Jacques if the voice he heard was Erica’s, but the portrait remains silent. Jean Paul declares that he must decide by dawn if he should open the capsule.

In the lab, Dan tells Alison he will be making a break for it before dawn. Alison begs him not to risk it. He is confident he can make it and asks Alison to come with. She tells him no, because of Jean Paul and Erica. She asks him to wait until Jean Paul decides what to do about the capsule.

At the séance table, Jean Paul asks for some other sign of Erica’s presence. As he looks down, the pearl from Erica’s locket moves of its own accord. This convinces Jean Paul that Erica is present. He runs down to the crypt. Meanwhile, in the lab, as Dan talks with Erica they both hear a strange sound. Down in the crypt, Jean Paul opens the capsule and finds the conjure doll and pin.
