Voiceover: Raxl – “Maljardin, lonely and unprotected at midnight, as the evil Erica threatens to take yet another life and Holly faces an instrument of death created 300 years ago in the shadows of the great house.”
In the main hall, Jacques orders Erica to move towards Holly and look at her with hate, telling Erica that Holly’s spirit will be hers, causing her to live forever. He instructs Erica to lift her hand and kill Holly with the silver pin. Suddenly, Mrs. Marshall appears, pushing Holly out of the way. Erica stabs her instead. Holly screams and kneels over her mother, who dies silently. Jacques sends Erica after Holly again. She moves in on her with the pin. Holly tells Erica that she thought that Erica loved her. She can’t understand why Erica just killed her mother. She tells Erica that she hates her and Erica moves in for the kill. At that moment Quito enters and Erica backs away from Holly. She begins to stab Quito repeatedly.
Erica’s stabbing does not affect Quito and she eventually stops. Erica sees no blood from Quito’s wounds and wonders if he is invincible. Erica calls Holly to her and Holly moves, trancelike, towards her. After Holly reaches Erica, she puts her arms around her and moves backward. She apologizes to Holly for her being so trusting and devoted and tells her that she needs more than her devotion – she needs her life. Suddenly, Jean Paul enters and demands that Erica release Holly. Erica tells him that Jacques is her master.
Jacques laughs in the background and tells Erica to kill. Erica confesses she loves Jacques and can’t love Jean Paul. He cannot stop her. Raxl enters and tells Erica that she can stop her. Raxl declares that she has her own powers and lights a match. Erica is instantly afraid. She lets holly go and Raxl holds her at bay by the painting of Jacques. Jean Paul rescues Holly and asks Raxl if Quito has found the boat. Quito indicates that he has not. Jean Paul sends him to the south shore of the island, but Quito will not leave. Raxl gives Quito permission to take Holly and her mother away while he looks for the boat. Jean Paul tells Raxl to go with them, but she cannot. Holly turns and asks Jean Paul to come with, but Jean Paul insists that she leave now. He tells Holly that he must stay with Erica and leads Holly to the door. Erica pleads with Holly not to go. Jean Paul promises Erica that he will not leave her. Erica tells him that she does not want to die. Jean Paul takes the torch from Raxl and throws it into the fireplace and tells Raxl to go, but she is reluctant, telling Jean Paul that she is loyal to the island. Jean Paul asks her to think of Holly and she eventually obeys, leaving Jean Paul and Erica alone.
Erica begs Jacques not to let her die, she pleads for his help. Jean Paul also demands that Jacques speak. He tells Jacques they have ended the bargain as he gave him a bride of the devil. He stabs the portrait with the silver pin and declares the bargain broken; Jacques laughs and says a bargain with evil is never broken. Blood emerges from the portrait and Jean Paul declares “it is done.”
Erica begs for Jacques to stay with them. Jean Paul mockingly says he is touched that he was included. Jacques does not answer and Jean Paul tells Erica that he is gone. Erica tells Jean Paul that he can save her, and he laughs. Erica tells Jean Paul that she needs him, but Jean Paul replies that those words are better suited for her lover, Jacques. Erica asks Jean Paul how he can torture her so, and he replies “easily.”
Erica asks jean Paul if he would believe her if she tells him how she came to be there. She tells him that she is there because she loves him. Jean Paul simply laughs at this. Erica goes on to say that she heard Jean Paul calling when she was in limbo. She tried to cross over, but could not. She asks jean Paul if he has any idea what it’s like to be suspended in limbo forever. She claims that her soul was not free to cross over because of his attempts to preserve her body – the suspension kept her from crossing. Jean Paul is sympathetic, telling Erica that he never meant to harm her. Erica tells Jean Paul that he caused her pain by calling to her through the séance. She adds that Vangie prevented her from coming back until the evil one came to her in the crypt and tore the locket form her neck. He promised she could come back if she would obey him forever.
Erica asks Jean Paul what he would have said in a similar situation – what did he say when the evil one asked for his soul? She reminds him that he said yes, and so did she, sacrificing her soul to return to him. She didn’t realize what she would have to do to get her wish. To stay alive she must destroy and kill. Erica tells Jean Paul that she loves him. Jean Paul says that if that is true then there is hope for both of them, as Jacques has been destroyed and they are free of the bargains they made with him. Jean Paul tells Erica that they can leave the island, but Erica is afraid she will die if they do. Jean Paul tries to assure her that the evil spell over her has been broken. He insists that he will find a way. Erica repeats that she needs Holly’s soul and begs Jean Paul to give Holly to her.
Jean Paul is disgusted with Erica’s pleadings. He tells her that Holly is gone, but Erica insists that she cannot be as should now be dead if she were. She claims Jean Paul chose Holly over her. Jean Paul tells Erica he can no longer trust her, given the many times that she had lied and used his love against him. He declares that whatever they are they will not harm the world anymore. Jean Paul tells Erica that he accepts his fate, but Erica says that she accepts nothing. She can escape alone if possible. She can survive without him. Suddenly, Erica attempts to stab Jean Paul with the pin. He grabs her, commenting “so this is love…” Jean Paul grabs a torch and tells Erica he will free her from her existence as be begins to set the room on fire. As the mansion begins to burn Erica screams. Jean Paul advances on her with the burning torch and forcing her into the flames, where she burns. As Erica dies, Jean Paul stands horrified. Moving to the portrait, Jean Paul sets fire to it, bidding Jacques farewell and telling him that an eternity in hell is not good enough for him.
Jean Paul makes his way outside as the mansion burns. He collapses outside the door. As Jean Paul falls to the ground, he hears Jacques laughing, telling him that his curse will follow him wherever he goes…
