Alison says no to the séance, but Jean Paul insists. Vangie tells everyone she is ok and says she must proceed, despite the prophecy. Raxl asks Jean Paul not to chance his life, but he refuses. He wants to speak to Erica to learn the secret of bringing her back. Alison is still concerned about Vangie and the stress she is under. She says she has a premonition of impending doom.
Vangie insists it must be dark before they being – candlelight only. Jean Paul orders Quito to turn off all of the lights. Holly wonders if everyone is to attend the séance, but Alison is not sure. Holly asks Jean Paul if Tim and Dan are to be part of the séance. Vangie tells Holly they will not take part, as they are disruptive influences, and Holly has been through enough already. Holly admits she’s afraid but volunteers for the séance. Vangie refuses to allow her to participate.
Mrs. Marshall asks where she will sit and Vangie tells her that she will not be participating. Elizabeth wonders why she is excluded, but Jean Paul tells her to let Vangie run the séance as she sees fit. Holly encourages her mother to leave it alone. Mrs. Marshall tells Holly not to be rude, but Jean Paul rebuffs her. Having been chastised by Jean Paul, Elizabeth realizes she is not welcome and goes upstairs with Holly. As they leave, Jean Paul demands the séance begin.
Everyone sits around the table. Vangie tells everyone that she is literally placing Jean Paul’s life in her hands, and warns everyone that they must not break the circle. She asks them all to blank their minds, making in their head an empty chamber. Shortly, she beckons Erica to come meet Jean Paul.
During the séance, Jacques invades Jean Paul and he breaks the circle. Alison notices but Jean Paul/Jacques tells her that everything is under control. Vangie screams “No, not now!” The chandelier starts moving and everyone scatters just as it falls and breaks through the table. In the aftermath, Vangie lies by the side of the table, injured. Jean Paul asks Quito to turn on the lights. Dan, Holly and Mrs. Marshall, alerted by the crash, come down the stairs and see Vangie on the floor, her head cut by the shattered glass. Dan is upset at Jean Paul’s seeming indifference to Vangie’s condition.
Vangie rises from the floor but does not speak. She seems to be in a trance. Alison slaps her but gets no response. Jean Paul tries to snap her out of it, but Alison warns that one false move could destroy her. Alison says what happened to Vangie is much like the state that Quito is in. They lead Vangie upstairs. As they depart, Holly wonders if Vangie will wind up like Quito.
Downstairs, Dan demands to know what happened. Jean Paul, still possessed by Jacques, attributes the chandelier crash to an unfortunate lightning strike. Raxl says it was the sprits, yet Jean Paul/Jacques dismisses this, telling Raxl she has a vivid imagination. Jacques offers Holly a brandy and she accepts, but the Reverend tells him not to give it to her. Jean Paul/Jacques leaves the dining room to speak with Mrs. Marshall. Mrs. Marshall asks Jean Paul if she is now out of favor with him, but Jean Paul assures her she is not. Jean Paul also tells her he was about to meet Erica but some force intervened.
In the main hall, The Reverend tells Dan he noticed Jean Paul reacting before the chandelier fell. Dan wonders who the chandelier was aimed at, but the Reverend says it was an accident. Dan is not so sure. Raxl comes down the stairs and tells Jean Paul that Vangie is still in the trance. She is convinced that the devil did this. Jean Paul/Jacques dismisses this and tells Raxl to see to the guests. Jacques then leaves Jean Paul, who recovers, confused, to see Quito pointing at a drawing in his sand box Raxl says it is a message in the sand from the conjure man, but it needs the conjure woman to translate. Raxl says it tells of more accidents. The spirits are angry – with Jean Paul.
