In the main hall, Raxl repeats that the spirits are angry with Jean Paul and that he should be wary of death at the séance if he decides to hold another one. Jean Paul still wants to continue. He claims he was almost ready to hear Erica when they were interrupted. Dan asks if Jean Paul has concluded the crash was an accident. Jean Paul doesn’t answer and runs up the stairs. Raxl wants to save the message that appeared in the sand for Vangie to interpret. She claims Vangie will be able to tell the name of the spirit that came to the séance to kill.

In his room, Jean Paul wonders what kept Erica silent. Downstairs, Holly and Dan discuss the chandelier falling. Dan is convinced that there was no accident. Holly agrees, and says that her being pushed down the stairs was not an accident either. Dan suggests Jean Paul has the killing influence. Tim asks Dan why he was at the cryo capsule when the dial was malfunctioning. Dan repeats he was looking for the cyanide and reiterates that Jean Paul is ready to punish or kill anyone who stands in his way.

Upstairs, Jean Paul heads to the secret room. He speaks with Erica, telling her that he sensed she was near. He records his messages as proof that he tried everything to bring her back. He insists he must be stronger than Jacques to make sure she joins him again in life. He vows that he will join her in death if he fails, and anyone who tries to stop him will die.

In the main room, Tim mentions that maybe Jean Paul slashed his painting himself because he will settle only for the real thing. In the secret room, Jean Paul vows no one will touch Erica or the instruments of her preservation. As he speaks, Jacques interrupts and says he is waiting for the use of Jean Paul's body. Jean Paul resists, but Jacques insists and winds up taking over his body. On the monitor, Jacques observes Raxl and Quito in the crypt reading the sand box. Raxl says that it shows the symbol for the conjure doll and silver pin, but she cannot read the rest. She insists they must find the doll and pin to punish Jacques. Jacques mentions that he now knows Raxl’s secret, so he can turn her off, perhaps for good.

Tim and Holly return from a walk and discuss a way to possibly reach the water and get off the island, but conclude that there is no way to do it. Sitting in the great hall, Holly suggests that Tim ask Jean Paul to help him get off the island. Tim says that to everyone but Holly Jean Paul is like a warden, making then stay on the island to keep them quiet. As they talk, Tim hears something, but it is only Raxl and Quito.

Holly laments that they will never find out a way to bring Erica back. Tim agrees and says they need to get off the island. Raxl and Quito return to the crypt. Tim speculates that the house must have hidden doors and tunnels, and Holly wonders if Tim will tell anyone about Jean Paul if he manages to escape. Tim insists they should get off the island together.

Jean Paul, still possessed by Jacques, comes down the stairs and asks to speak with Holly. He takes her away, while Quito arrives to make sure Tim doesn’t interfere. In the dining room Jean Paul asks Holly what she and Tim were discussing. Holly tells him it’s not anything relationship based. He again asks her to tell him what it was.

Meanwhile, Raxl summons Quito to the basement. She tells him to guard the sand box while she goes to look in on the conjure woman.

Upstairs, Holly confesses to Jean Paul that Tim wants to escape because of all the things that have been happening. Holly tells him there are a lot of strange things he should know about, but Jean Paul dismisses her concerns, instead wondering about the tunnels supposedly on the island. Holly tells Jean Paul that the Reverend mentioned tunnels in the crypt. Jean Paul appears not to know about these, and asks Holly to find them.

Still under the influence of Jacques, Jean Paul tells Dan, Tim and Holly they all can leave the island, and tells them to make preparations. Dan asks what Jean Paul will do if he goes to the police, but Jean Paul dismisses him. He then leads Holly to the crypt while Tim and Dan go pack.

In the crypt, Jean Paul tells Quito to go to the boathouse and make preparations for an immediate crossing, and then he asks Holly to find the crypt entrance. Jean Paul/Jacques spots the sand box and places his hands on it, but suddenly Jacques is driven out of Jean Paul's body. Not understanding why Holly is in the crypt, Jean Paul suddenly turns on her and tells her to get out. He warns Quito never to leave the capsule unguarded again. Raxl takes the sandbox to the temple to make sure it is safe. She opens it and finds the writings have been tampered with – there is only one message now…death.
