In the main hall, the Reverend complains of the dangers of holding another séance. Jean Paul insists once the storm is over he will have another séance, regardless of the risk. Later, in the crypt, Jean Paul tells Quito to repair the table and the chandelier. He says he will keep Erica company. After Quito leaves, Jean Paul speaks to Erica, wishing Erica could tell him he’s doing the right thing.

In the lab, Alison is frustrated. The Reverend says he understands how she feels. Alison thinks that there might be no hope for anyone after the events of the previous night. She is convinced there is evil in the house. The Reverend says that the forces of evil are more manmade than anything. Alison relates that Raxl believes even her witchcraft cannot help. The Reverend is astonished that Alison even believes in Raxl’s powers. Alison tells the Reverend that Menkin was on the verge of a breakthrough and if she could find the last six weeks of his notes they might bring Erica back.

Alison and the Reverend go to check on Vangie and find her sleepwalking. They watch as Vangie walks slowly down the stairs to the main hall. Alison helps guide her to the bottom of the stairs without falling. They follow her to the living room, where they guide her to the couch and lay her down.

The Reverend says he cannot stand any more, saying Jean Paul needs to be halted before his paranoia drives them all to madness. He says bringing Erica back is only a dream that won’t be realized now. He sets off to find Jean Paul, but Quito will not let him pass. The Reverend sets off to find something to “even the odds.” Alison instructs Quito to watch Vangie while she follows the Reverend. Quito watches Vangie but suddenly runs to the crypt.

In the lab, the Reverend is searching for a knife. He finds one, but Alison stops him before he can use it. Downstairs, Quito mixes up a potion in his room. Meanwhile, Alison offers Dan a sedative and he confesses he is on the verge of a breakdown.

In the main room, Jean Paul accuses Jacques of being the disruptive influence at the séance. Jacques denies it and tells Jean Paul that if they must battle, so be it, then he possesses Jean Paul. As Jean Paul is possessed, Vangie speaks one word – Lucifer! Jacques wonders aloud if the devil is too strong for Vangie and the others, but Vangie assures him they will defeat the devil.
Vangie mentions Jacques was at the table and destroyed the séance. Jean Paul tries to get her to speak more, but Alison and the Reverend intervene. Alison says Vangie must be taken to the mainland, but Jean Paul refuses. The Reverend wonders why Vangie was speaking to Jean Paul as if he was Jacques…Jean Paul dismisses this. Jean Paul presses for another séance, yet Alison says Vangie cannot in her condition. Quito arrives and gives Alison the potion, indicating that it is for Vangie. Alison has Vangie try it. As Vangie drinks it, she comes out of her state, and has no memory of anything happening.

In the confusion, Jean Paul/Jacques disappears. Alison has the Reverend take Vangie upstairs while she gets a tranquilizer. Meanwhile, Jacques has descended to the lab, emerging from a secret room behind the medicine cabinet. He brings out Menkin’s missing notes and places them on the table for Alison to find. He then leaves.

Upstairs, Jacques leaves Jean Paul’s body due to Jean Paul’s own efforts. Jacques remarks that Jean Paul’s will is growing stronger. Jean Paul immediately wants to check on Erica, and heads to the crypt. In the crypt, Jean Paul explains to Erica that Vangie is herself again and nothing will stop him from contacting her the next time. He vows to send Jacques back to Hell, to which Jacques replies…”you included.”
