In 1982, Canada was preparing to air the very first soap opera to contain nudity. Produced in partnership with Showtime Television, 33 Brompton Place was to be a soap with a bit of spice. May 19, 2008 - High Hopes - Toronto Star 7.16.78
After Strange Paradise, it would be almost 20 years before Canada attempted a daytime serial again. the second time around the soap opera would not be gothic, but rather in the strandard soap opera mode, but would, like Strange Paradise, be produced by both Canadians and Americans and would be dependent on success in US markets. In June of 1978, the llocal High Point, North Carolina newspaper featured a short interview with Bruce Gray who was set to star in a new Canadian soap opera, "High Hopes." In it, Bruce talks about working on soaps in general, and the team atmosphere goes into making Canadian Productions.






May 5, 2008 - Another Shot of the Wall
As featured in a previous archive, there was a large temporary wall in the Strange Paradise studios where cast and crew alike would voice their opinions about the production. The general consensus was that it was a "Mickey Mouse" operation - one that was run on a shoestring by "Mickey Mouse" himself, Jerry Layton. . At right is a comment from cameraman John Pashley expressing his opinions about it.
